Previously Davison's Leaf Warbler was considered to be monotypic. However, subspecies intensior, previously classified as a subspecies of Kloss's Leaf Warbler Phylloscopus ogilviegranti, properly belongs with Davison's Leaf Warbler (del Hoyo and Collar 2016). Because the name intensior Deignan 1956 is older than the name muleyitensis (Dickinson and Christidis 2014), change the species name of Davison's Leaf Warbler from Phylloscopus davisoni to Phylloscopus intensior.
